Publication: "Vergleich von Vergleichbarem"

Logistics experts would only be too pleased to know whether their warehouse is organized better or worse than that of other companies. But in order not to compare “apples and oranges”, an indicator-based performance measurement system was developed at the Institute for Material Handling and Logistics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Within the scope of the analysis, the comparability of the distribution centers is guaranteed by the task-based Distribution Center Reference Model (DCRM) and a systematical examination of the technical and organizational processes is ensured.
In the November issue of “Logistik Heute” the methodology of this benchmarking is explained. The link to the article in “Logistik Heute” is here.

Especially in economically tough times efficient logistics structures are a decisive competitive factor. The evaluation of the own performance requires reference values to compare with others. In the journal “Fördern + Heben” the methodology of the “Distribution Center Reference Model” (DCRM) is explained and results from the application of the model in the Warehouse Excellence Study are pointed out.
